In 2013 Drake moved from Bmi to ASCAP
However ASCAP's awards were held today for Rap and Rnb. Going Bad won BUT Drake wasnt listed as any award winner for ASCAP
So I did more digging and it turns out God's plan in 2019 also won Ascap awards and Cardo/1da/40 all got listed as Ascap writers EXCEPT for Drake
So yall saw anything about what Drake did with his publishing? Is he handling it with another agency or is Universal handling it ??

If he wasn't listed as a songwriter, it means another company handles his publishing.
I have no idea. What do you think? Universal would be my guess. He is signed direct now
Do we know anything about Drake's publishing, masters basically how much he owns of it ?

Yeah but with who? And why? Everybody else in his camp is with ASCAP.
My guess is that he sold his publising to universal for a huge upfront cheque

His first contract said he keeps 100% of his publishing so

damn that’s crazy for his first contract

I remember Tez said it was all a part of the plan. They took every meeting, got offers, dropped SFG, pushed BIEH and Successful to radio with their own money to create all the hype and leverage. They always knew where he was signing lol but they got everything they could out of Cash Money/Universal

taking notes on this strategy that’s some king s*** cause some of the deals be like 2-4% publishing to the artist

The whole interview is really insightful. This is about a year or 2 after the Wayne/Birdman stuff. Shows what could happen with multiple levels of entities involved. Dude ran YM and managed all of them for about 5 years
Drake talk is somewhere in the middle like around the 30 minute mark
