Yeah Uzi and Yachty you’re def right on but Carti always been respectful and at least paid a lil homage to older artists.
how did Uzi not do this? he has a Pharrell beat in 2017 and came up under DJ Drama and Don Cannon

Lil Uzi literally said older rappers need to die or get of the way for newer acts lol he was playing that character for a lil minute while larping as a f***in GG Alin fan lol
I do respect that he keeps the breakdancing element of hip hop alive though
Everybody knows that’s high bar in this day and age
I am being deadass this guy probably hasn't even heard MMLP and probably hasn't heard TCD or LR lmao man jfc
its ok bro he likes a boogie, hip hop is in good hands
Just realized how crazy it is that anybody even cares who the “most powerful voices in hip hop media” are lol
▫️ #12: Kai Cenat
This dude hasn't even heard of Illmatic, Ready to Die or All Eyez on Me... Dire state in hip hop
I know these albums are old now but this still bothers me
Blame the 90’s babies just above him who made it en vogue to pretend not to care about what came before you in rap. Uzi Carti Yachty etc
Meanwhile Ye and Wayne were all about giving props to the generation of rap that raised them. I saw a video of Wayne freestyling a Bone Thugs verse from his childhood effortlessly at his peak hype
you say this like the generation before Wayne & Kanye is the same generation before Uzi & Yachty
they praise Wayne & Kanye’s generation
Basically need to interview at least one rap artist to be deemed “Hip Hop Media”.

Chicken or the egg
If I'm understanding your post correctly
Bone thugs respect Wayne because he studied and respected people like Bone, Biggie, Jay, Missy, etc and thus his music (at least before 2008-2009 lmao) was respectable by the old heads to begin with
Idk if Uzi or Yachty have the same reverance for the past to begin with which is why their music is the way it is and thus old heads instantly look at them how they do lol

what i’m saying is young Wayne & Kanye mostly praised the generation that came before them, 90s rappers & some late 80s rappers, like LL Cool J, Busta Rhymes, Q-Tip, 2Pac, Biggie, etc.
Uzi & Yachty praise 00s and 10s rappers like Wayne, Kanye, Drake, Future, Thug, etc because they came around 2 decades after Wayne & Kanye
they respect their elders for a decade and change back the same way Wayne & Kanye did, but a decade & change back from Wayne & Kanye was formative years for the genre while it was fully formed a decade & change back for Uzi & Yachty
basically, they’ve been asked to be more knowledgeable than Wayne & Kanye to even begin in the genre
This guy has an OvO chain now btw

Uzi literally walking around with 3 Roc chains and with Jay-Z family at the Grammy’s/Super Bowl. Yachty co-wrote basically 2 Drake projects. I just don’t get this take. maybe they were disliked in 2016, but it’s been 10 years and they’ve worked with veterans closely or are currently under them

Uzi has had so many characters and yet still gets mad love from all the legends, I think we fans just take it too seriously
don’t him and Kanye literally have matching tattoos?
I just don’t get the take is all. Uzi and Yachty been done their part with the veterans above them to show respect
