Yes and that’s why public perception is that Kendrick won. His songs were more dense with rapping at Drake with potent s*** even if one says Drake had more clever punchlines. Bars aren’t just punchlines and maybe that’s why how Drake or even someone like Wayne is viewed is so polarizing

Kendrick’s punchlines were even better. The punchlines on Not Like Us alone are better than everything Drake has come with in his disses

Keep in mind that Takeover and Ether had an equal amount of bars and quotables too.

The phenomenon of Drake stans twisting themselves into a pretzel pretending that he had better bars because he doesn't have the superior sales figures anymore should be studied

And as for your question I don't think they matter to casuals because a majority watching the beef are outsiders who don't like hip-hop. When this is over they'll go back to their usual schedule. To us rap fans it does matter still but we aren't the majority in big moments like this
