“These mfs are always listening to Earl and Kendrick rapping about black issues and sending love to the black community but proceed to treat our music like it's Pokemon cards.”

That sounds to me like they’ve got some growing up to do musically, but if their hearts are in the right place then their questionable music tastes are the least of my concern. Would you rather it be the opposite?

I always thought it was funny he said this but a white hip hop head was responsible for Live.Love.A$AP being so ground breaking

  • May 19, 2023

You're right. It can be super annoying.

is your point that there's irony in white people who listen to "conscious" music and don't practice it at all? Of course. Look at white liberalism, the issue is far wider than the music they listen to.

This is a white person issue, you'll find white listeners of any subgenre of rap be insensitive/outright racist. Others pointed out how white fans of drill music love antagonizing the "street" aspect of it while living in a gated community

It's easy to target one audience but if we're gunna have this discussion let's have the full discussion, not get triggered over a tweet saying "Earl > Don Toliver"

    Real

No, and actually they (along with Sony and UMG) destroyed Hip-Hop on a mainstream level

A lot of white fans in general don’t give a s*** about hip hop. You got those that think they’re smarter than others for listening to more experimental / conscious s***.

And you got those that listen to trap music and s*** like that to fetishize the gangster image behind it. There’s white fans of Gucci who are fans of him cuz he really killed somebody.

    Sad s***

Yt ppl listening to conscious rap has always been hilarious to me

I dont think op referring to the white people that listen to conscious rappers being racists as most people in that list arent really conscious.

More so just a sect of white people that don't appreciate certain rap unless they're left field (lack of a better word lol)

But as you said, the overlying thing is that there's white fans in all subgenres of rap that like to boost that specific subgenre, but downplay and hate everything else

I think those that dismiss everything outside of drill, trap, and turn up music don’t really care about black people fr. Like if you can’t tolerate someone not being on f*** s***, that just let me know everything I need to know.
