I think the biggest thing is that It's no longer up to him if his career is over or not. Powerful people in the music industry are against him, so he has to figure that out.
If he puts out Gods Plan tomorrow it'll flop
a ton of cool s*** isn't on Spotify so Im keeping my method
spotify does detect your local music on the phone at least. if theres something on the youtube i just download it tbh. spotify is pretty handy overall. i am pretty handsome.
Forget Drake being "cooked."
Based on these Spotify stats, new rap is cooked cause the OG's keep outstream, outselling, and outcharting them while dominating the music/rap conversations.
The same rappers that were hot when I was in high school still running the game rn.😭😭
Until the new guard can usher us out of the 2010's era of rap, it's going to be a while before niggas just stop listening to Drake full stop.
there wont be a "new guard" in rap
label execs have been pushing rap out of the foreground for years now
just look at the trend since 2020, rap lost 50% of its consumer base in just 3 years, insane

This color coding is ass
I've said it before and I'll say it again: 50 Cent took the fight to Jimmy Iovine and that was the end of his run
Drake is exponentially more popular of course. In another stratosphere actually, but these suits are grimy af. Ain't no telling with them.

I think there is a "new guard" but they just haven't garnered enough interest across demographics to properly take over.
Like many people feel Carti is a new ringleader in rap based on his influence but ain't nobody even in his own fanbase taking Carti that seriously to think of him as a new rap leader.
Lil Baby was also supposed to be the new ringleader but he's musically ass. If he finds better producers and puts out an actually standout album though, his trajectory could change.
Overall, the rappers who debuted before 2016 are running circles around those who debuted on 2016 and onward which is pretty insane.

All those guys are here today and gone tomorrow
he was a casual drinker/user from the start, but it materialized in the music around view/more life era and became a serious, identifiable concern after CLB imo
“Meet The Grams” cover had both sleeping pills and adderal on the cover.
I think he got on it after Scorpion and the Pusha beef.
Right before “views” he threw dirt on Cudi’s name for being on pills “you stay X**** and perc up so when reality sets in you don’t have to face it”
So I doubt he was on pills himself back then

He made fun of Ross about ozempic and was on it himself so…

True, but there is a difference between taking a X**** every now and then, and being prescribed it everyday.
But like you and some else pointed out he clown Ross Ozim… while being on it himself

Shaaaaakeeyyy warrior
This is like when trump got arrested and then he came back bigger than ever
Your trolling but it is lol
Over? No, he will still make millions and draw millions of streams with each project he releases.
The same dominant juggernaut he was before? No, we’ve already the numbers start to taper off with his recent studio albums and all the songs he’s dropped this year have been commercially underwhelming.
I think he’ll exist in that Em / Jay tier for the rest of his career.
No longer the #1 guy, but still able to do respectable numbers like 200K-300K with a new album, and also have the ability to fill up a venue whenever and wherever. Basically a legacy act at this point
His numbers have shifted as consumption of rap and overall sales have shifted. His position within rap remains the same
It’s only just begun. He’s gonna rise like a phoenix out of the ashes and completely kill that midget for good this time.
His career will 100% be different after this year he just had let’s not kid ourselves
Will it be over? Not likely. He’s always going to be famous. That said, I kind of expect his future releases to he less…mass appeal-y. More HNVM. At least that’s my hope
