Without Drake’s influence we don’t get I’m Single by Lil Wayne so hey
scorpi ting
The Writ is their zenith
Ozzy's best vocal performance is on that Sabotage album
Let’s open up the floor and really have this discussion.
Why was it that none of the Big 3 were really influential as far as artistry and sonics go?
I really can’t name many younger rappers tryna sound like Drake, Kendrick, or Cole.
Is it because their styles originate from an older era of rap? Or is it because, as rap has become more entry-level and DIY, the levels of their artistry can’t really be replicated and/or emulated?
They’re are but their just not as successful or are just watered down versions of their inspirations
For example:
Kendrick - JID
Drake - Jack Harlow
J.Cole - Cordae
The rappers I named are a direct influence from their Big 3 counter parts but they haven’t evolved their sound to the point where they don’t sound like a dollar store version of their inspirations
their best album is definitely The White Album to me
s*** is so messy and all over the place sonically, love it
not sure if the planets ever aligned for any artist like they did for beedles in '68
yeah if anything Paul seems like the most gaping a****** there. I wanted to hit him a few times,
you can tell by that time Paul was the only one who still really cared about the band
you can tell by that time Paul was the only one who still really cared about the band
Ringo - Beat his wife till she was unrecognizable while drunk
George - Invented mysterious music (2 songs per record)
John - Was John
Paul is definitely the goat beatle
yeah off top i hear a little Kendrick in Doja's flows and i know Saba was inspired by him too, but similar to Drake's influence it isn't much either tbf
some say he revived concept albums but idk i was too young to even really know the state of the game when GKMC came out
Nah I wouldn’t say he “revived” them per se it was more like he was the anomaly and s***
Like he made niggas see it was still possible but like I said Keef and the drill sound took over the next year anyway
Ringo - Beat his wife till she was unrecognizable while drunk
George - Invented mysterious music (2 songs per record)
John - Was John
Paul is definitely the goat beatle
Easily
most talented, unproblematic, and cute
beatles started as like 4 cute guys being one direction and then within the space of a year ended up just becoming a totally different band with insane musical, studio, FX, envelope pushing stuff and then they just were that. someone on twitter the other day said something like it would be as if one direction after their debut few albums, they all of a sudden became radiohead
This s*** blew my mind the first time I heard it in full

Was geeked off the addie + Pendrick Lamar on the subway listening to HNVM one time and was convinced it was the most beautiful music i’d ever heard
Crazy experience, i know flights booked had you on another planet
Didn’t rven recognize you at first
I still love ghosty
Ozzy's best vocal performance is on that Sabotage album
yep Sabotage has their most interesting arrangements, Ozzies best vocals and Geezers sharpest lyrics
did new direction play write and play their own music?
i think they wrote a bit
but no they didn't. but i do like that a***ogy/mapping onto modern music as a way to get through to people that they weren't just silly pop music
This s*** blew my mind the first time I heard it in full

wont elaborate it just feels right to say that
the closest I think Drake got to being “innovative” was the underwater “toronto sound” style production off Take Care and various other tracks released after.
but even then, thats moreso to the credit of Noah 40
That nostalgic sound they created was why everyone fell in love with him tbh and he seems to have made a conscious effort to abandon it over recent years
you can tell by that time Paul was the only one who still really cared about the band
to an aggrivating degree
Ringo - Beat his wife till she was unrecognizable while drunk
George - Invented mysterious music (2 songs per record)
John - Was John
Paul is definitely the goat beatle
ringo what
I can't stand The Strokes but this is my s***
@Cookies kill him
ringo what
I don't believe that
I'm sorry if it's true
But in my mind the guy who made octopus garden didn't do that
That's ridiculous
That nostalgic sound they created was why everyone fell in love with him tbh and he seems to have made a conscious effort to abandon it over recent years
he got tired of the “drake is the type of guy/ Drake is soft” jokes and decided to cosplay sopranos
