not really in a literal sense but i am pretty certain that Christianity etc. are myths wrapped around a core kernel of truth. im definitely not a materialist atheist and find that worldview deeply flawed

I can understand your sentiment for atheism but what do you think is flawed about materialism?

are you asking in the philosophical sense, or in the sense of consumerism? or both?

    yeah philosophically not consumerism

greatly simplifying here but materialism = reality is reducible to the interactions of matter mediated by quantities like mass, momentum, charge etc.

i disagree with materialism because it is fundamentally incapable of explaining experience in its most raw and irreducible form- the feeling of seeing red, listening to your favorite song, getting a headache etc. this is called the "hard problem" of consciousness.

imagine that you're a blind person who is an expert on the physical process of seeing red- you even know the exact frequency of the electromagnetic radiation that represents red. despite this, you will never know what it is LIKE to see red. this is a simple example that gives you an intuition for a larger problem- material quantities are fundamentally incapable of providing qualitative information.

they're a useful map of reality and we have drawn associations between quantitative states and subjective experiences (like particles moving at high speeds correspond to the feeling of heat), but you can't actually deduce the latter from the former.

there is a huge amount of debate around this and i am well aware of materialist arguments about consciousness as emergence, integrated information theory etc. (of course I think they're all deeply flawed if not outright bs). just trying to give you the big picture.

Hope one realizes there’s a difference between the Bible (God) and religion (man’s curriculum on a subject)

Pilate writes about Jesus’ existence. There isn’t evidence because of 70ad. The Hebrew temples don’t exist because they’ve all been destroyed multiple times over. The Hebrews were then scattered across the world.

Any remaining artifact in terms of the ark of the covenant, weaponry, inscriptions, these will be in the hands of the Roman Catholic Church or the Smithsonian. These things won’t be publicly showcased because it’s easier to control someone who lacks faith in God. Especially Gods children.

Man creates religions. We see this even in the NT! Pharisees and Sadducees. They’re man made doctrines is what prevents them from entering the kingdom!

I 1000% believe in God and I loosely follow Christianity but I’d be lying if I said I 100% believe in Jesus as a savior/figure to worship. It’s hard for me to wrap my head around praising another human being unless he was actually God himself and I just don’t understand. I’m not a book reader by any means so I don’t have the patience to get through bible scriptures (might check out the YouTube channel OP mentioned).. but I definitely believe there’s things beyond the physical and that things happen for reasons beyond our knowledge.

do you think anyone who believes in God, not necessarily "Jesus" or Christianity would enter Heaven?
