dating is discriminatory by definition but really they're not comparable. some ppl think short men are at a disadvantage since "you can change your weight but you can't change your height", and so the logic is: if women can be picky and prefer tall guys why cant guys be picky and choose skinny girls?

but its not that simple. the reality is if you're short and you're insecure about it, sure that sucks, but you can't do anything about it. but if you're fat, you can do "something" about it, but that means putting more pressure on that person. not only you're fat, but society will also make assumptions about you (i.e. your lazy and that's why you won't lose weight)

and i say this as a short dude also dating apps are not good for your mental health so there's that

Yes there are, but to put the focus on physical traits is kinda meaningless. Reality is both men and women are shallow, and like what they like physically. You shouldn't give a f*** what people think about what your preferences are. They are your preferences and yours alone. As long as you aren't a d***head or racist about it do you. Don't let people try to convince you that you're wrong for not wanting to date somebody tall, short, fat, skinny, etc.
