I only started feeling it very recently. I don't think I listen to anyone that blew up post 2017-18 on even a semi-regular basis.

I NEVER see eminem fans and i never hear his music being played but somehow he has 30 million spotify monthly listeners

What are some artists that are like this?

Eminem has been a global superstar for 20 years.

People mistake what's hot in America, for what is hot Worldwide, and the same for what isn't hot.

Em has fans in countries that a lot of American Rap fans don't even know lol

That's why I think Sada Baby and Tee Grizzley were dumb for talking about Em not being top 5 in Detroit. Why would he care if he's a Global Icon at this point? Lol

That's why in my Music pursuits, I'd definitely be happier being popular internationally and less so in America. The world is bigger than the States and I always was aware of that growing up.

As far as being out of touch, I definitely feel that way.

I began really paying attention to urban music from about 6 or 7 (I'm 27 now), and I grew up listening to what is considered "Real" Hip Hop and R&B. I'm from The Bronx and my entire extended Family are into Rap, so Hip-Hop and Hip Hop Culture is an institution for me.

I love more technical, lyrical hip hop (but not forced lyricism like some of Ems work this decade), and music that has a soul to it.

I feel like most of today's music lack real soul like Urban Music had before, and the creativity in the wordplay and songwriting in some topics (like Sex/Love for example) has fallen off a cliff as well.

But, there are still plenty of artists this generation that I enjoy. I definitely will let the young heads enjoy what they want, though, but I definitely see a lot of the f***ery that is associated with today's Rap Culture as well that I don't stand by.

Real for not being close minded. Today’s rap culture is sooo many sub genres. I’m pretty sure your go to rap would be lyrical and soul s*** and just real s*** raw emotion. But alotta old heads and just out of touch s***ty taste people dismiss the ENTIRE rap game off just seeing some acts on social l media. Like wen Gucci gang dropped they called the entire rap game today as a summary of that song. So stupid but I usually break down to old heads on different types of rap and there purpose and wat to get from em

    Trap rap
    Street rap
    Mumble/melodic rap
    Lyrical rap
    Conscious rap
    Drill rap
    Emo rap
    Pop rap
    Soul rap etc.

Cause you get these old heads comparing Nas to someone like lil uzi. And I be like na both these rappers are amazing at the type of rappers they are

Eminem fans are jus the average person you meet everyday, the nice old lady who holds your door open, the greeter at your grocery store, the firefighter saving children. They’re not morons blaring nba youngboy hoping they get pulled over to start a scene

It’s always NF, Joyner Lucas, Hopsin.. all the bullshit like that. I legit quit talking to a friend of mine for always sending me youtube vids of those dudes to see if I liked any of it.

No cap NF is actually decent for the type of music he makes. S/o Mitch Baker

Oh yeah for sure. As I get older I also feel my taste in music getting narrower within all the genres I listen to.

Met a eminem stan recently and his views on hiphop were so trash and closeminded. Dude was basically a living "real rap" youtube comment.

Most of them tend to be like that

this is a great mindset especially with streaming getting more popular in smaller countries. if you're making music and looking at your a***ytics based on location you should try to market more towards those pockets that are f***ing with you instead of just being naive and trying to pop off everywhere at once.
