pinkpantheress a b**** for saying this. someone @ her ktt acc for me

PinkPantheress said that she believes “a song doesn’t need to be longer than 2 minutes 30, in my opinion”.

“We don’t need to repeat a verse, we don’t need to have a bridge, we don’t need it - we don’t need a long outro,” she explained

Some songs are definitely better with just one verse but it’s kind of crazy for an artist to be saying this like it’s universally applicable

    4 min or less

  • Dec 2, 2025

I run a lot of songs back that are short so longer

travis is obviously an amazing artist but imagine if he actually had good writing or said something substantial in his songs? he'd be undeniable

as long as the song can justify itself

  • Dec 2, 2025

I like when songs feel longer than they actually are

I like when songs feel shorter than they actually are

  • Dec 2, 2025

Literally just depends on the song

  • Dec 2, 2025

Both can work but a great long song will always be better than a great short song

in general prefer shorter songs. keeps you coming back/great when its an earworm, less likely to waste your time.

i like this new wave of almost making music like fleeting memories and trying to develop song(writing) to be as concise as possible, but not a fan of the underlying mindset that every jont needs to be like that (re: tierra whack, earl, pinkpantheress rhetoric)

part of the pernicious notion behind it is the whole algorithimic roi to replayability, bloated deluxe albums and social media reels that streaming incentivizes.

atp when someone does make a longer/long ass song it's a pleasant novelty and feels really intentional, but everything comes down to execution. art shouldn't be long just for the sake of length. if you're gonna do it then serve the idea to its most complete form, make it as affecting and evocative as u can.

thats why I said it was variable. to ascribe a songs success or prime likability to length alone as if it was a formula is crazy

A long song with enough going on that it keeps your attention>

  • Dec 2, 2025

My favorite song of all time is 10 minutes long

But my 3rd most played song is 2:07 and my favorite song of the year is less than 2 minutes long

It really just depends man. All that really matters is that the song keeps your attention

  • Dec 3, 2025

I have no preference at all when it comes to song length. Does it have a purposeful structure? Does it say what it needs to say without wasting time? That's all I care about.

I love a song with a good bridge though, so that means a lot of 2 minute TikTok bait songs feel unsatisfactory to me.

Depends on Artist . Im not sitting thru 5 minute of travis scott he is good in 2 minute waves

Early tarvis could command your attention especially when the beat switches were done a masterfully and not masturbatory fashion
