i don’t really have anything bonafide to back this up, just a strong gut feeling. from the f***ed up seemingly semi-random tracklists between the standard and deluxe, releasing the stems via the stem player and in general Ye’s admittedly brilliant flouting of convention for most of his career in terms of what an album should be or how you should present music, most notably with how he updated Pablo like it was a damn piece of software and to the point where critics like Ltano had to rereview it and give it an entirely different score.
from my own personal experience, sequencing Donda in my own way to be a more focused aesthetically mournful and conceptually and literally Donda focused record increased my enjoyment of it x1000. has this crossed anyone else’s mind or just me?
if he did he wouldn’t have forgot to tell us so nah he just sloppy as s*** now lol

i feel you but im not sure i agree. maybe he didn’t wanna be super obvious about it. but maybe you’re right, no way for us to know ig
thats what i did cause the dam album had too many tracks n versions
doubt he meant people to do it tho. he just went crazy n couldnt sequence it right so he said f*** it n dropped every versions
for the record, the tracklist I made back then was
1) 24 (love how this started previous Donda iterations, perfect intro imo
2) Hurricane
3) Jonah
4) Off the Grid (i cut out fivio because that s*** is just too damn long. plus i got Carti’s explicit verse lol. i had to include one banger as the “single” and this s*** bangs the hardest)
5) Moon
6) Jail pt 2 (obviously i prefer Hov as a rapper but I felt like Dababy had the more thematically consistent verse i have to listen to both of their verses again tho
7) Life of the Party (Andre verse is too perfect not to include, instrumental goes crazy, and although Ye could use some trimming on his verse he mostly stays on topic
8) Never Abandon Your Family
9) Donda
10) Come to Life (my favorite Ye song of all time )
11) Up From The Ashes
12) Only One (it just fit too damn well it’s almost scary how well this track fits on Donda, plus it’s a loosie so I thought f*** it. even if you wouldn’t wanna use this UFTA is a great coda after Come to Life)
like i said i stripped out most of the songs that weren’t directly related in some way to mourning Donda, songs I personally don’t like that much, and I also aimed to bring it to
9-12 tracks like a classic LP. some songs i don’t dislike like No Child Left Behind but there just isn’t enough to that track for me to justify including it. i also like ye verse on jesus lord but goddamn it’s too long, id probably edit it to include no features
i think imma put Donda after Never Abandon Your Family actually to be more of an emotional preparation/interlude for Come to Life… damn that sounds hard actually EDIT: yeah i listened to it and that goes hard. changing my tracklist lol
Only way to enjoy Donda is making your own album imo there’s so much filler.
I love a concise album featuring Ye singing and almost no rapping, songs with organs and dark, pensive religious vibe. This track list is just an unreal experience to me and personally the best vibe Donda offers.
Come to life (w/Donda intro speech)
Lord I need you
24
No child left behind
Hurricane
Moon
Jail
Jesus Lord

yes I feel you so hard. in general I feel like a masterpiece or one of if not Ye’s best album is hidden in the mess that is Donda as it was given to us. try out my tracklist too bro!! i feel like you’d fw it if you do let me know if you prefer Donda after NAYF or Moon
i like lord i need you but i wish the verses were about something other than his relationship with Kim tbh

Lmao u cut the album down like 1.5 hours
Lmao u cut the album down like 1.5 hours
i cut mine down to 46 minutes
Donda as an album isn't a great listening experience, s*** is too damn long. Even if the songs are good, the length of the project takes a toll on you in the back half.
Individually majority of the songs are good to amazing. The tracklisting of that album really f***s it up. The Vegas one is probably the best I heard, even though it misses critical songs
He hadn't made a full length album since 2016
Pretty sure he just wanted to flood with alot of music
probably not, the standard version tracklist is pretty cohesive (with the exception of the middle of the album), the deluxe is just completely random i cant speak at all to what the point of it is
that being said i dont think kanye particularly cares if someone listens to the album in any order they want given how the deluxe was presented
personally i have my own tracklist

i would disagree that the standard is cohesive but it’s definitely more cohesive than deluxe. album is just better when you make your own tracklist lol yup

24 into Remote Control into Moon is God tier sequencing
Nah bc jail is the perfect intro ctl/nclb perfect outro it’s a lil f***ed up between but it makes sense

i think the first like 8 songs and the final 7 songs flow into each other pretty well
the middle is a complete mess and turns the album into a slog
LP1 sequencing was great. Jail as an outro made a lot of sense. LP2 had perfect sequencing. Final album is good but the middle is filler central and it’s just too damn long. Could’ve been TLOP tier if he trimmed the fat.

I blame Jonah and Ok Ok
I blame Jonah and Ok Ok
Jonah is good tho, beat is gorgeous and haunting and Vory goes in

Beat is too minimal for its own good and the hook annoying imo
