"If you're lonely when you're alone, you're in bad company."
Sartre was spitting when he said this
I used to. Would constantly need to be hanging with people and if my friends werenโt available Iโd go to a bar and hang with the regulars and make new friends. Needed constant social stimulation
As Iโve gotten older tho I appreciate and look forward to my alone time
to paraphrase tarkovsky, it's important to learn how to be alone, with alone meaning solitude, and not loneliness.
it's dangerous to be addicted to the company of others to a point where you can't enjoy spending time with yourself.

Being alone โ Lonely
I went through an upheaval in my life after my freshman year of college. for a long time, I was alone. At first, I thought the distance might help, but I quickly grew to resent it. There were many times where it felt like I was trapped, being held in solitude against my will.
how did I escape? To be completely honest, I'm not sure. I think much of it has to do with chance. Somewhere along the way though, I think I learned how to live with myself.
Sitting here on the other side, I have much to thank that period of solitude for. It most definitely bettered me as a person; it helped me mature.
Today, I neither hate nor love being alone. However, I have learned to be comfortable in solitude.
A word of advice for the lonely: books make for great company when people fall short!
