in theory that's what a single should do. it's also just being familiar with the sound. when you are listening to album for first time and then a song comes on you have already heard it's going to stand out. but i just think you should also listen to album front to back the first time. the real problem today is artist dont really care about track order and its just a bunch of songs so it really doesnt matter. but if album is made correctly and they put thought into how it was arranged then then thats how it should be listened to
