Wtf does #thatrapper have to do with this thread lmao

    Im just tired lol

Also Big Boi reposted the article safe to say he prolly supports it

Oh yea I don't really delete people's posts in threads ngl I honestly didn't even know I had the power to do that

That's real I also think referring to Ovrkast as a "Drake producer" is crazy and a self-report, he has produced 3 out of Drake's last 60 songs and the vast majority of his work is solo or in that Mavi / Samara Cyn kind of pocket

And that's unfortunate to hear about Big Boi but it is what it is I guess

I was disappointed until I read the whole thing … if it was a different situation then yeah as far as this … nah nothing changed

Which part of it changed your initial reaction?

Which part of it changed your initial reaction?

That its a trademark thing not a personal thing and that homeboy had multiple years to change his name and agreed but didn’t

He was asked to change it

    Agreed to change it

    Didn’t actually follow through

    They followed up

    Gave deadlines

    Gave reminders

He continued to use the name

    So they are suing

They own the trademark but could be lawyers acting without them being super involved

Honestly, I look at the people who been defending them for the lawsuit differently.

Many of these people are just plain stupid, can't read, don't even know who Ovrkast is and just siding with Outkast because of hero worship. The amount of people I've seen "He very clearly named himself after Outkast" despite Ovrkast across his social media saying Outkast has had no inspiration on his name for the past ten years lol

Conveniently leaving out the part where he tried to resubmit name changes that they declined...

Lmao forreal. It's not very hip-hop

Yea. This is pretty much where I'm at. I like Ovrkast and I think it's kinda wack because the names really aren't THAT close. It's litigious in an unnecessary way imo especially when one of the acts is an established legendary group and the other one is tryna make it rn

But at the same time I could see them being pretty uninvolved in the actual suit and just letting the lawyers do what lawyers do. Which is wack but not as wack as them leading the charge

i guarantee that whatever paper work they needed to file was just one of a hundred on a desk and whoever was in charge barely looked at it.

but yeah no one ever is going to get f***ing outkast confused

wow, you must be such a cool, level-headed guy to be unaware of “discussion of the week” topics like this one. can i be your friend?

    Im f***in crying lmaoo

It's wack and if it was any artist that this site doesn't like then all the excuses about it being the label or their representative suing wouldn't even come up.

  • It’s lame for sure but I’m still spinning aquemini

  • Shocking because I remember Outkast having a lengthy legal battle with Rosa Parks due to their song name

  • Sep 29

He should probably have changed the name. Its not like he's that big of an artist anyway and changing it before he gets bigger would be the move. I thought he was just some twitter guy at first cause his tweets would pop up more than his music.

With that said, I don't think the name thing is that big of a deal cause it's not like Outkast does s*** or will do s*** nowadays.

Not at all and I'm tired of people desperately tryna say some dumbass s*** like

"Well why didn't he just name himself Overcast if its supposed to be for the weather to avoid the confusion?"

Yeah man. Because rappers (artists in general) are known to never stylize their name. Nope. Always spelling their name correctly.

    Yeah, that's right...

    Big Boy

All artists who spell their names correctly and have never stylized their names differently...

Bro the Outkast d***riders are coming up with the most braindead defense lmao

Deadass had a dude try to justify the confusion between Ovrkast and Outkast by saying s*** like "Our brains can automatically detect words even if they aren't spelled right or there are letters missing.

Okay...so if you see "ovr" how the F*** does your brain read that as "out" instead of "OVER"? Nigga tried to follow it up with "Well the v looks like the letter u!" So again...how does your brain go to "out" instead of "our" at least!?
