I used to like their music in the past but now I feel like they're all dumb junkies and I just cringe when I hear their lyrics about d**** and all that dumb s***...

I used to not care but now I do, is this what growing up means?
The whole US hiphop scene is very cringy to me now

  • please tell me this is a youtube comment

  • I respect all rappers except for those depressed Emo weird ones who rap about d****.

I don't think most rappers are like that. But the ones that are popular are pretty bad with lyrics.

  • bruh why do you guys waste brain energy on such general thoughts especially negative ones like this who gives a f*** man

I actually respect all rappers on some level, even the trash ones, for being confident enough to pursue and follow their dreams and putting in the necessary work to make it happen.

That aspect of their success, getting out of your insecurities and not letting others sway your feelings about your dreams, is the foundation to their success imo

You gotta be a grown man to undastand today's rap

  • Jan 4, 2020

What I personally don't respect is when rappers just wave ride or if it's apparent that a rapper is making music predominantly for numbers and not bc it was the best they could truly do.

  • Jan 4, 2020

No, I only respect Marky Mark and the Funky Bunch.

    You are right.

Most rap today is stale. We literally are just hearing the same damn words in every new school song, now they just focus on the vibe of the song and sacrifice lyrical content

Hip Hop is art. Art is self expression.

People can express themselves however way they want through their art. That's what is great about it.

You might not like it, cool/normal/basic people might not, but as long as their art can get them a fanbase that can feed and provide for them, that's all that matters.

Music fans get way too caught up in an artist not appealing to the masses and putting that pressure on some artists leads to them compromising their creativity often times.

Yeah I'm not saying they shouldn't create their art.
But I feel like a lot of people don't see how cringy some of the stuff is.

If you're a bit more mature, how are you able to identify with someone who brags about drinking x amount of lean and spending x amount of money on a car...
When I was younger I thought that stuff was cool but I was cringy back then, now I just see some 19-20 year old junkie behind the music. The "magic" seems to be gone.
