some of the greatest songs ever weren't even performed by the original artists...for example, Marvin Gaye's rendition of I Heard It Through the Grapevine, Jeff Buckley's Hallelujah, Jimi Hendrix's All Along the Watchtower, Johnny Cash's Hurt etc.

we live in a time where it's more common to sample/interpolate songs than to actually cover them. personally i'd love to see contemporary artists take on covers more often because it gives them the ability to recontextualize the source material, just like we've seen in the past

Rap doesn't lend itself well to it unless interpolated, it's the dominating form right now so nah

Partially because it's so individualistic and verses are looked at as diary entries

Honestly if Drake just straight up covered Playaz Club it would've been hot

Same with Mo Money Mo Problems and Worst Behaviour

This doesn't sound that great, but it has a lot of potential if it were re-recorded and mixed properly

He absolutely does not have the voice for this wow

  • in my personal opinion if you're gonna release a cover you should add your own flair to it to make it your own

i think ppl would rather just sample/interpolate at that point

  • Dec 9, 2022

    Name a better cover song
Altough its more of a remix actually
    Nvm just appreciate the song
