Aside from the states, population is low in the developed world (Europe, Japan, Canada).

Europe is far more densely populated than America or the developing world. And I'm talking about carbon footprint, a person living in the developed world has a bigger negative Impact on climate change than someone in a developing world.

No one questions that, but the least developed countries are going to experience climate change’s effects more intensely because of natural resources and agricultural output will see a decrease due to increased pollution and deforestation. This in return will multiply migratory rates, especially migration up north to Europe and North America from Subsaharan Africa and Central-South Asia.

But in general, the cities of the less and least developed countries are more densely populated than the cities of Europe and North America. This has to do with the Washington Consensus implemented in the developing world by the IMF, World Bank and US department of treasury in the 70s. Partially, the Washington Consensus concentrated economic growth in cities like Lagos and Addis Ababa while ignoring rural development. This saw an exponential increase of slums across the less/least developed world. Even where the Washington Consensus didn’t take place, cities like Guangzhou’s borders sprawl so randomly to avoid taking the slums in in its outskirts into consideration
