I'm about to turn 25, I'm definitely not as excited about music as much as I was a decade ago. There's still good music coming out but I'm worried I won't have a new favorite album. Which sucks because I really want to be excited about music. I don't even feel the need to explore and dive into genres/discogs anymore I just listen to recommendations.
Please share if you heard an album from recent years that became one of your all time favorites. Most recent one for me was Japanese Breakfast - Jubilee. I have to recommend it incredible album.
yes, of COURSE i think so lol and if your favorite is only from 2 years ago then wouldn't you agree? maybe you might like the new J Brekkie album even more than Jubilee when it drops
Most recent album I'd personally call a 10/10 is Blonde. But new artists (Jpegmafia, Kenny Mason etc) are getting very close to dropping a 10/10
I think the bar for me just keeps getting raised so it's hard to hit that again. And I feel like from ages 16-22~ music hits a lot harder so once you age out of that it's harder to find new stuff that really connects

I fear nothing will hit as hard as Blonde ever again
I hope something will

Yeah I feel like it just generally happened with every type of media whether albums, movies, TV shows, anime, I'm not as excited as I used to be it'll have to like change my life for me to call it 10/10.
The only thing I'm hopeful about is books I haven't read too many so I'll probably find some 10s.
OP 10/10 albums will come out but they don’t come out everyday so it could be years before you hear one also an album could be 10/10 for one person but not another

perhaps try to change this outlook brother :)
looking back it’s crazy that in my youth i was in high school for channel orange, gkmc, yeezus, nwts, and a fee others like a lot of really good music in a short period of time that might’ve set your expectations too high OP music releases aren’t always stacked like that
the older I get the harder it is for me but..
TPAB, Purple Rain, Station to station, Velvet Rope, Hounds of Love, When The Pawn, and Late Registration are all 10/10's for me
but most of those albums are almost a decade old or older
Smino and Anderson Paak are the most exciting and promising “new” artists for me, they restore the feeling when new music comes out
Someones gonna drop the next grodt/gkmc cant wait.
multiple albums from this year have gotten close, last album I'd probably consider perfect is Nala Sinephro's debut from a couple years ago
How new?
Blonde is 10/10
Yee
This type of music doesn't really come out like that
There's 2 albums like that every 10 years at max
You're lucky if there's more and that's good if there is
Zach Bryan - Zach Bryan out now
it's sooo close to me. the three track run of Tourniquet-Spotless-Tradesman is just a little weaker than the rest of the album imo. it's a 9/10 for me

Lol and they aren’t even new. I listened to them in HS
