Antinatalism is an unfailing marker of a civilization having passed its exhaustion point. In the late stage (winter phase) of any civilization life itself becomes a problem. Among Western thinkers, this type of belief can be found in the work of Schopenhauer who is one of the first to treat life itself as a problem needing to be solved.

"Wow should I even have a kid? Gee I dont know theres so many problems!", "Should we even bring a kid into this mess or not?!" this type of thinking becomes common. Earlier generations in the previous phases of civilization never had those questions because life itself was intuitive and obvious. Instead its now turned into a problem to be solved by the intellect and it becomes pragmatic instead of spontaneous. Its a materialistic world-outlook dominated by a cult of science and utility.

Even if you are larping as a climate change doomer, the essence of the human spirit is to fight and be life-affirming regardless of the situation, for if we give up life, there is nothing - and the affirmation of nothingness begets evil.

There were anti-natalists in ancient times too. The thing is that they don't breed obviously and then die out. See the Shakers in the USA, only 3 of them left now
