You laugh but it actually did offend his political connects

Obama fuming at Jay for giving him a guilty conscious about having 808s, carter 3 and epiphany on his kenwood 5 disc tray CD changer in the trunk of his presidential suburban

I think the song rapping wise is fine but it's just factually dragged down by how wrong n out of touch he was on this moment.

And how his own ppl use auto tune like Kanye, n doesn't cudi also use auto tune on bp3? N goes to work with ppl like future.

Could have done the same flow and delivery with sumn more "timeless"

    DOA was Kanye’s idea

I don’t think the song is literally saying nobody should ever use auto tune again it was basically just saying people need to step their s*** up.

Yeah it was him wanting to kill all the corny trendy s***

“This is anti auto-tune, death of the ring-tone,
This ain't for iTunes, this ain't for sing alongs”

  • It was him saying we’re losing the art of actually rapping for melodic sing along songs

Which in hindsight, Looking from 2026, He was absolutely right

Yeah people act like he dropped this song in the middle of Future’s prime or something lol there was a ton of rappers who aren’t auto tune rappers making BS auto tune songs at the time trying to catch a hit being lazy af lol

I think once people really started making excellent music with auto tune consistently Jay was pretty quick to embrace it lol

Autotune got even more extreme, trendy and exaggerated in the 2010s by dozens and dozens of ppl

He was calling Autotune ringtone and nursery rhyme sing along core

Which is still dissing autotune in itself and what autotune continued to be used for in its exaggerated ways

It got even more extreme after DOA and even more popular - which again means he failed and was off the mark of what was happening

2010s created the image of the "mush mouth autotune saturated" rapper that was clowned on the entire decade

That's a matter of taste tho, when Autontune was still hated on in the 2010s

Even Future was s***ted on for and made fun of in both general Rap media and news n skits, such as Honest album which is looked at better in retrospect but was a flop for him that led to his mixtape run where he was "accepted" now in Rap, although still made fun of by a corner of the Rap and general world

And Kanye was already hating n sabotaging on TPain, so I wouldn't be surprised he was pushing DOA to rub it into Pain's face imo, especially since he prob at the time felt like he was over Autotune like that after 808s - but regardless, Jay still failed with his callout and calling it a trend due to it becoming basically ubiquitous of the genre pretty much right after this song/album

    Ts a miss
