no lol pretty sure most of the vaporwave albums from the 2010s that I love dearly were all made by people with day jobs

I think it depends on the scene and how much the artist's image or music is related to their success, I guess

cause vaporwave is pretty much anonymous (or at least was) so it didn't matter who you were just if ur music (or whatever u were sampling) was good

but like yeah if a rapper whose best songs were about like luxury brands and then it turns out they are working a 9-5 I guess I'd find it a little odd but honestly just buy whatever makes u happy

    It doesn't.

Because it takes an insane amount of capital to actually have a viable career

This is why most rappers are criminals before rap for example, because there's simply no legal way to accumulate the amount of money needed to fund an actual, viable career.

This right here is why I think it’s harder to make it in music than film/TV

    F*** this is beautiful

Nah who gives a f*** I’m here for the music

  • lex luger still works warehouse job last i checked

This right here is why I think it’s harder to make it in music than film/TV

Each have their own financial constraints, to be fair.

But If you've ever seriously tried to, or have been around someone that's seriously pursuing a music career (I have, seen it first hand on the management side, interned at a record label, etc.) you know just how much it cost to be a rapper.

Sure, you can download software to your laptop, download an app in your app on your phone, record into it, upload it onto twitter or YouTube or whatever, but that's not doing it for real. Making music vs having a career making music in the music business and industry is not the same.

A real studio? Cost money. Engineer? Cost money. The beat? Cost money. Finding a real distributor? Cost money. Artwork? Money. Music video? Money. Wardrobe for music video? Money.

Social Media Campaign centered around your focus record? Money. Ads? Money. Do you have a manager? Money. Do you have a booking agent? Money.

The rappers you listen to, the reason they even got to your ear is because they very likely have a ton of money invested into their product.

This is why almost no rapper has an honest job, because there's no honest job that can support a true rap career. You need capital.

    U fw telepath?

  • I seen first hand a rapper at a label try and buy a beat, and the beat already had a rough idea on it already.

35K was the rate for it.

There's no way anyone should be judgmental of rappers having a day job, hell multiple day jobs, while pursuing a career in the music business.
