well i think mainly it's because of the idea of having an extravagant set design and overall performance that matches the music for the specific tour

like with coldplay for example, for most of their tours, they would do things like have multiple stages and perform on them at different points in the show + use certain stage effects that would change based on the aesthetics of the tour at the time + increased crowd interaction in general (chris martin became known to physically join the crowd to sing certain songs and on one tour, would shower the crowd with balloons when yellow came on)

and i def feel like travis made astroworld with the intent for the album to be performed like one of those type of rock bands, like what kanye said he envisioned with graduation when he was making it
