Its crazy to think 10 years ago it was unheard of for a highly anticipated album to be heard for the first time. It would be a random Thursday before the album drops on the next Monday night and the whole KTT1 site would have thousands of ppl flocking to the leak thread with half the ppl asking for links and the other half reacting to it. Idk something about being caught offguard and everyone stopping to listen to it at once.

used to be way more common when CDs were pressed months in advance of street date because that was the way to get music out

now you don’t need early physicals anymore because everything is on streaming/digital download and physicals can be pressed up after it gets released because it’s a niche market now
