For as long as I can remember, lyrics in music have always been an afterthought for me. Whether it be listening to a rap banger or Persian pop music
I remember going through a phase where I jerked off over how “lyrical” a rapper can be.
Don’t get me wrong - I absolutely love music. But truth is, I just enjoy the other aspects of music not related to the words. I listen to the melody, bass line, harmonies, mixing, etc. before I listen to the words. There are very few songs/artists I listen to specifically for the lyrics (Lupe, Evidence, etc)
Is anybody else like this? Maybe it’s just part of me maturing and understanding that after all, music is mainly about the vibes.
Always focus on the vibes on first listen n then the lyrics afterwards
What I do nowadays also, vibes are million times more important unless the lyrics are absolute cringe
there's nothing wrong with this but people phrase it so weirdly on here
you're just enjoying music for music sake, a jazz or a classical listener isn't just enjoying the "vibes" right lol like you're listening to music the words are extra
“What a dream that was
I almost couldn’t wake because
I was frozen in bed with a zombie girl
As vacant as a closed down fair”
HOW?????
No song can be truly great unless its lyrics are strong. My opinion.
We need mindless music with BS lyrics to just vibe to sometimes but that’s not the kind of music that lasts
Depends what I want to listen to in the moment I’m not tryna hear royce da 59 out at a bar tho I’d prolly start laughing
