Chrome is just not doing it for me anymore so I’ve been looking at alternatives, I was gonna default to Opera but I came across this browser called Arc. It’s super new and macOS/iOS exclusive (though that will soon change) only having its public release a little over a month ago.

It seems to have a super rabid user/fanbase which kind of freaks me out a bit… because it’s a browser. It lowkey feels cult-like and if I didn’t know any better I would think it’s a scam, but then I saw MKBHD and his podcast crew review it and they were quite positive towards it.

    Has anyone tried it?

Tried Brave a couple years ago after S recommended it a hundred times, didn’t really like it.

Is the battery drainage as bad as I’ve seen some say it is? I’ve seen people say it drains 15-20% of their M1 in about an hour, and I’m still working with an Intel so I can only imagine how much worse it is.

eh i've not noticed much difference to chrome, which is what i used before.

    intel macs ymmv tho

one thing i would say a lot of people i've recommended it too have struggled with the sidebar, it takes some getting used to but once muscle memory kicks in - i dont think i could switch back to a traditional browser.

having different profiles in different spaces - meaning i can separate my work stuff to my personal stuff is great. so organised

    firefox is the only option.

Check out Orion. It's infinitely better than Arc, which is just heavily reskinned Chromium, and is also macOS/iOS exclusive and native.

Imagine the look and feel of Safari, except you can also install Firefox and Chrome extensions natively. It's f***ing fire. Runs on WebKit not Chromium too
