In some aspects
Just cus you got a degree, don’t make you smart
There’s a couple people I know with degrees that are idiots and don’t have common sense and live in their own little world lol

This so much. I work for the state and some of the s*** my coworkers do and say make me think I’m taking crazy pills. Like some basic mathematic equations fluster them, can’t think logically to solve problems to save their lives, and some lack any form of emotional intelligence or fortitude at all.
That’s why it’s always best to be a mix of street smart and book smart. Cause book smart mfs can be dumb af when it comes time to apply what they learned in their careers or use their knowledge to solve problems/get results.
Outside of that, I know so many college grads who work s*** jobs nowadays its actually scary. The system definitely needs an overhaul, too many people brute forcing their way through college causing crippling debt that they can’t keep up with due to their job prospects. S*** is not at all what I thought it would be growing up in the hood.
Propaganda really had my ass thinking everyone who went to school would at the very least be well paid or educated. But now mfs will do 10 years of fragmented classes in UNI to graduate with a 4 yr liberal arts degree and are depressed and kinda not even smarter than a typical high schooler at that point and working jobs that someone out of high school could grab. Im not saying I’m better than anyone but the system sucks, I just got very fortunate to be told straight up by my counselor to not go to film school when I first went to college
If you think being educated is overrated then I think you’re entirely missing the problems surrounding the way we set up education services and how they play out in your life
It’s more sensible to critique the way our society and structure of labor treats education rather than simply criticizing education inherently
It’s important but they need to implement stuff that will actually help you in the real world as well

truthfully that counselor was not doing their job well by telling you that, you can do well with a degree in film it just depends if you can figure out how to apply it
counselors shouldn't be there to convince you to get a degree in an "in demand field"

True but honestly grateful he did cause I know so many grads doing bad rn it’s actually scary although obviously this is just my personal experience. I told him I wanted to be like Christopher Nolan and he was like that’s not even the wave.
Obviously I’m not a famous millionaire director but I’m very fortunate to have landed a great job right away.
