Think it’s just ridiculous to assume that a change in economic structure would eliminate the idea of Self interest

That’s just how people have survived for 60,000 years. We’re always motivated by self interest and sometimes those interests align with the self interests of others. Then we get to cooperation to achieve common goals.

Self interest and selfishness are cornerstones of biological life. It’s how we survive.

This is why capitalism will never die. Coming from someone who’s ideals align with socialist/Marxist views I also acknowledge that the world is generally a lot more conservative than curated progressive circles would like you to believe. Core values of Capitalism are just human nature. Would the world be better off with more socialist ideals put into practice? Yes. Would it erase narcissism, greed and self interest? Absolutely not.

Human nature is much more malleable than you would think. The diversity of how societies have operated alone would show that. For the longest period of human history we had hunter-gatherer gift economies without private property, Marx and Engels called it "primitive communism".
