Quality wise he was one of the best, probably top 5 if we are talking strictly rap verses, but he lacks the large amount of great feats other rappers like Drake gave us during the whole decade.

fr though it's between Drake and Jay. Drake is currently in his prime and at the highest peak in this season of his career, so it makes more sense for him to garner the type of attention and spotlight whenever he drops something, but for Jay to be 20 years out of his prime still and the level of quality and admiration and respect that he receives throughout the culture of Hip Hop whenever he opens his mouth is simply more impressive to me. Jay been on a smacker run for the past few years while Drake is definitely a bit more hit and run in the supposedly golden age of his 'light'.
