    All jokes aside though.

when I think of hiphop all I get is angry. I am ready to admit that this forum has consumed my life. But the anger I feel towards this genre is concerning at times, seriously.

first it's the style, its a matter of taste. Unfortunately it is now being embraced by people who refuse to listen to anything else. I, for one, am not a fan of this style. Its corny as hell and has a hard time not breaking into me when I listen to it, like there is some kind of psychotic patient coming to kill my sense of humor. Yolo rek bro. But enough of this s***. I could probably make a beef with any of the rappers in hiphop

I don't say that all hiphop artists are terrible, though. I say that some of them are.

A lot of us (I assume myself being one of them) feel that the hype machine for hiphop does nothing but disser these artists. For me, one of my favorite hiphop artists is Grandmaster Flash.

Flash is a gifted rapper, the most versatile rapper the hip hop industry has ever seen. But he's also a master in setting hiphop apart from all other genres. Just off tone, rhymes, and patterns.

because one of the biggest reasons hip hop is so problematic is because it has a f***ing structure that allows it to flourish in an environment of outright hate. Like an extended 'fuck you' to everyone who disagrees with you. It's a whole 'nother layer of racism that I want to talk about later...

(sorry if it comes off rambley and un-coherent. English is not my first language)

A lot of artists wash rinse and repeat the same formula over and over but a lot of it still goes. Not much staying power with a lot of the mainstream s*** tho it’s hot for a week then something else comes and you never listen again

OP is a smooth-brained numbers guy, shocker.

  • The rise of trap in mainstream Hip hop has made it devolve to what hip hop used to be in the early 80s. Its just fun, simple beats with simple rhymes and little substance.

I like albums like EA, Die Lit, So Much Fun but lets not pretend theyre classics that will stand the test of time.

That said there are still various artists putting out great and classic albums for the genre
