Hey y'all I was thinking about whether albums "coming and going" or being forgettable is influenced by modern consumption habits and streaming. Like back in the day where you would buy a CD you would listen to it over and over again because it would be a financial commitment to listen to something new. Whereas with streaming everything is so accessible and thousands of new songs being available, do fans feel that album releases are not providing enough content?
No one back in the day forced themselves to listen to a CD because they bought it you just gave it away or trashed it. Quality does matter because if an album is incredible that's what makes people come back to it.
I bought the Slitherman Activated CD and I have accumulated countless undocumented listening hours.
In the streaming era albums only stick around if they have singles to carry them.
That benefits the playlist type albums more than the super cohesive albums that make a big moment on release but don’t have that one song that lives the rest of the year

Whole Lotta Red out now
No it had to do with most s*** not impacting the average persons conscience deeply enough to remain a popular topic.
It means it lacked impact even if it was good
