  • Feb 4, 2022

i love guitars, been playing since i was a little kid

funny enough i never liked metal. i don’t like the technique and composition behind it. i don’t really like what most people consider traditional metal? metallica i guess? that sound i’m not a fan of.

i love heavy music, but for me that kind of metal never did it for me. just doesnt resonate with me. and i like all kinds of music.

i def feel you on wanting a softer sound. for me i used to like nu metal as a kid but grew out of it.

the band that stuck with me since that phase was and always will be deftones. they’re great and white pony is amazing. they might have the sound ur looking for

I still listen to that Fleeting Joys album. Is that got any metal in it??

Tbh I’m not too sure what I’m talking about when it comes to metal, if it’s got loud guitar I call it metal lol

  • Feb 4, 2022

Melodic Death Metal is what you looking for probably
many melodic riffs and hooks without growl very often

  • Feb 4, 2022

Check out the blackgaze genre that combines black metal and shoegaze. Some good artists in there like Deafheaven, Alcest, Sadness, Oathbreaker, sonhos tomam conta, etc. Nothing too heavy but it has some sick riffs and pleasing aesthetics.

One album you'll really want to check out that has hints of black metal and indietronica is the Downfall of the Neon Youth label comp from Longinus Recordings. Two of the three acts aren't metal but the sonhos tomam conta stuff on there seems to have influenced the other acts on some level and the album is a surprisingly smooth blend of electronica, indie rock and black metal.

    My favorite band, Buckcherry

They’re considered hard rock but experiment a lot with metal elements sometimes

I want to get into the metal genre, but in a weird roundabout I’m wondering if there is any recent contemporary artists in the last decade that experimented with metal.

I’m thinking like throw in the doom soundtrack and a whole lot of flavorful synths from indie/electronic genre’s into a blender , add some sugar and press start.

If this kind of experimental metal exist, please list some artists for me.

bring me the horizon's sempiternal album seems to fit the specific sound you're looking for

some people say it's not 'real' metal because of their pop appeal, but I still think it's good. there's a lot of synths and indie / electronic influence here.

that’s awesome man it seems to be widely beloved tbh and they’re a fantastic band / legends themselves, all in all it’s so sick that they paid tribute to sabbath so well
