Been in heavy rotation lately and I still think the production is...quite interesting nonetheless. It'll be weird for someone who's accustomed to the loud ass 808's and rattling hi-hats to give this album a listen, as it sounds drastically left field for a hip hop album in my opinion. I still appreciate the varying melodies, interesting synths, piano loops, and some of the rock influence throughout this album. Sonically I'd compare it to Late Registration, as both of them have been worked on by Craig Bauer, also kinda have this "dry" signature to the production style with fluffy bass. Also reminds me of Born Sinner too, except the production style was executed better on this album where the beats had more depth and body it.

What do you guys think of it in 2020? Has it aged well or not? Post your thoughts below

    It’s a flawed classic I haven’t revisited in a minute.

    this aged amazing tbh

F&L is a timeless classic if you ask me. It sounds kinda dusty but I dont think production ever was the best part of the album. It still sounds good to this day imo

I think the cool is the better album but f&l's production aged better than the cool

Funny enough I find Born Sinner's production to be 10 times dustier than F&L even though it came out 7 years later

But imo I look The Cool's production better

    The cool 100xbetter

Both are great in their own ways, I think Lupe exhibits more hunger and technical skills on F&L. But The Cool has the atmosphere and production advantage

I was referring to the production. I think the production on the cool is a lot better than food and liquor .

Oh really? I kinda think the same too, F&L had couple of beats I wasn't too keen on like Just Might Be Ok and I Gotcha, but it was still solid nonetheless

C'mon fam the only albums with underwhelming production were Lasers, F&L2, and Drogas light. The rest have at least decent production

thats three, albums and a few decent ones

Nothing really stands the test of time beat wise. The only Lupe beats I will remember til the end of time is Kick, Push and Mural

He doesn't have anything else outside of that really

T&Y had the best production imo, and I really enjoy his production choices but he moved away from that electro-rock type of sound since F&L2.

Maybe it's from the mixing style you're not fond of? That's the only speculation I find plausible tbh
