    Where are you from?

Halifax, Nova Scotia. Donair is a derivative or a variation of a doner but it’s a different thing

Nothing like a Halifax donair. Only had one in my life while visiting family in Nova Scotia about 10 years ago. I live in BC and I've been hunting for a good donair for years, to no success. I have found a few decent ones, but nothing even close to the real thing. Also OP I didn't know you were from NS, that's dope. Now that I think of it your sense of humor is very Nova Scotia.

All these fools saying it’s a gyro have no idea what they’re talking about, I’m glad someone gets it. They’re uniquely east coast, I know a lot of places in Alberta and Ontario try and sell them but they’re junk. Good luck.

Also hell yeah, Nova Scotia born and raised. Just a halifax boy trying to do posts. You understand the jokes even more now

Americans will never understand. I tried a couple donair shops in Alberta last year, but they were terrible. Way worse than the ones in BC. The best one I've found was in Victoria, BC. At a place that is now closed... I think I'm just gonna have to make a trip out east to get my fix.

Try watching that Matty matheson video and making his recipe. I tried making it just out of curiosity and it was pretty close, only thing off was the meat texture

    It's terrible

This sounds like the most disgusting concoction of all time. It’s like after you eat at a restaurant as a kid and we’re waiting for your family to leave so you mix together all the sauces that are left over

That man is incredibly obnoxious, but that does look like a damn good donair. Definitely gonna try making that in the next few days. Here's a question for you: cheese on donairs. Forward thinking or blasphemous?

  • Apr 25, 2020

My opinion? Blasphemous. All you need on a donair is tomatoes and onion, sometimes not even those. The more you add the further it strays from donair and closer it gets to one of these other things. There’s also already so much going on with the spicy meat and sweet sauce that it literally adds nothing, you can barely taste it usually

    halal carts in NYC though

    Beef on weck probably

I completely agree with your assessment. If I had my own country, cheese on donairs would be a criminal offence. You are a holy man, my friend. My eternal respect is bestowed upon you.
