Technology has most definitely exploded productivity in every way, it’s common sense. There’s barely a process left alone by it. I’d be interested if you could present a holistic case for why you disagree @americana

I agree with you in everything else you said though

My thing is that people are still sitting at work for 40,50,60 hours a week performing the same roles for the same wage

The thing is that your workload is not mitigated by technology because your company will happily dump more work on you to fill the rest of your shift

In reality you’re working Tebet more because you’re going through more content, therefore producing more, and earning less. The workload will still be the same even if it’s made it easier

I think we found a denominator here; there’s more content being processed by us as workers. I feel like the nature of our work has become more monotonous and less humane. And that translates to our mood.

But as far as straight labor, I think most of us here would be crushed working a barn in the 1930s, construction in the 50s…the blood sweat and tears have mostly been removed from our work life, they’re inside our head now.

I’d rather work at a barn for 8 hours with people around me than toil away on a screen for ten hours when they both come with the same pay

Is she right or is the new generation lacking the work ethic some of the past legends were known for?

New generation constantly talks about having a second job and hustle culture.

    She is not wrong.
