Collect creatures, fight alongside them, and explore an open world in DokeV. This extended look at DokeV premiered during gamescom 2021, and featured scenes of riding an alpaca-like creature, exploring the sea on a jet ski, entering weird portals, and much more.
In, my friend sent me this trailer yesterday and it seemed interesting. Like Jet Set mixed with GTA mixed with Monster Hunter. The art style might be a bit too overexpressive and busy for me tho, hard to focus, but the still scenes of the city were beautiful
I was super interested in this till I remembered it was an MMO
They said on Twitter it’s not anymore, it’s single player

It’s an single player adventure game

Well that changes things
Just might buy this. Need this to be an eye opener for Pokemon fans
Why people keep comparing this and PKMN?

Similar premise of capturing monsters
Just saw the trailer
This looks absolutely f***ing amazing
Like If Jet Set Radio and Kingdom Hearts had a baby or something

This won't do ANYTHING to Pokemon fans. They don't even have the same premise. Pokemon fans won't ever stop that itch to play the games(unfortunately).

This is nothing like Pokemon and I don't understand the comparison either. This is why games like this never succeed because it gets a unfair comparison.

its easier to describe, its a game where you capture and use monsters and you embark on adventures. If you have to do a sales pitch to a causal friend or sum, its better to start with the Pokemon example to give people an idea
it being compared is not enough for it not to succeed, if anything people are itching for variation in that genre

No you shouldn't and this is why all companies that do monster raising games avoid anything with phrases such as "capturing" or "monsters" because of the stigma people give games like this as "Pokemon clones" or "Pokemon knock off" and tend to avoid them. This game plays and looks nothing like Pokemon. This is why Digimon didn't take off because people tend to call it a Pokemon knock off even though they're not even in direct competition and play nothing alike. Like if you showed someone this trailer they wouldn't be like "oh s*** it's pokemon" as you don't ever see monsters battling each other. What you do see is the MC shooting and attacking monsters himself.
Honestly I would never describe a game like this to a friend with a Pokemon example. They'll most likely avoid it because they find Pokemon boring or associate it with being a kids game. No they're not and the countless failed games in the monster raising genre proves this. People will say they're looking for a variation and then give it the Pokemon knock off label and don't play it. Yo-Kai Watch and TemTem is a perfect example of this.

I get what you are saying but at the end of the day people do not know many games in the genre . As soon as you say “capture monster and fight with them” , people will think Pokémon . The only way to remedy this is more popular games coming out in this genre . This could be the start to that .
Obviously the trailer is going to bring interest in itself because it’s completely different . That’s why it has a chance to retain interest even with the comparisons since comparisons are inevitable and human

I agree, but I feel like we have to stop comparing monster raising games to Pokemon if we want them to succeed. If they play they're cards right like the first Yo-Kai Watch game and avoid being compared to Pokemon they'll be fine. Yo-Kai Watch fell off because they tried to do the Pokemon duel game thing and started to implement features Pokemon use. This is also why Digimon is moving more towards a late kid to teenager demo. Pulling away from being compared to pokemon is the only way to succeed, especially being on the same platform as Pokemon.
Would love for it to still have coop or something, but either way I'm in as f***. World looks genuinely unique and dope

yeah the marketing/presentation is essential to let people know its not actually a Pokemon clone. The way they showcased this did great at leaving you to interpret the chaos yourself as a first impression. The only way to see what genre it is would be to look it up and even then the trailer is so unique that its hard to pass off.
also happy that this will touch console. A lot of similar ideas touch PC, die out and never make it to the masses due to funds. Pearl abyss will ensure as many devices gets this as possible

Man anything to give Pokemon something to have them thinking twice about what they're doing. Sort of how Yo-Kai Watch affected pokemon Gen 7 development.
