If you have to cut half of your album then that doesn't sound like its a good album.
Well u dont have to
Nah there really isn't a track I feel would be better off being off the album. I'm glad I got to hear them all.

I mean that's the thing. The highs are this are HIGH. So I feel like it seems like a much grander project, but I just checked I've only added 6 songs from the project to my full spin library, so that's 6/27, the rest I wouldn't be mad not hearing again.

It’s not that half the songs aren’t good, it’s that most sound like demos. Good songs that don’t sound “fleshed out” or “finished” to me

Exactly. Hence 'trimming the fat' I eat fat on a steak, but a steak can only get better by trimming it, nobody considers a steak with less fat a worse steak.

I find myself skipping a lot of these songs after the 1st and 2nd listen tbh.
barely any skips on donda
Skip =/= not that great of a song. I listened through without skipping much, but like I said I only actively added in 6 songs from the album on my first and second listen. Probably hit it for thirds tonight
That artists need to be better at trimming the fat off of projects. On the surface 20+ songs from your favorite artist sounds great. But in both cases it ends up being a project with just as many skips or meh tracks, as it has gems.
On first listen Donda starts off so explosive. That it's easy to want to call it a classic off rip. But the problem with these super bloated projects is, you give me 27 songs I can't just judge the project off the highest highs, I have to look at all 27 songs, and a lot of times in a number that high there's always going to be a lot of songs the project could've done without. Scorpion arguably could've been a classic had Drake cut the fat and gave us a 12-15 track album of only the gems. Instead there's a bunch of skips and throwaways detracting from just how quality some of the songs really are in the grand scheme.
Donda has literally no skips except the interlude and silence we made it
But most people don't listen to albums as a whole, most of the times we only listen to a few select songs that we'd like to listen to at that moment
Also Kanye wanted to make an album that everybody would enjoy, that's why it has 23 songs and 4 of them have 2 versions, that's why it had 3 different listening parties, 50 covers but a blank album cover. I'm honestly so grateful thiis man has made such a good album after 3 years, could've been 50 songs long for all I know I didn't want 10 songs and that's it
Other genres have made long ass albums flawlessly.
Id say donda is a great long ass album. I only skip tell the vision
There’s like 3 songs that are okay at best. The album is damn near unskippable wtf do you mean
Nah I enjoy the length of donda. They're 20+ good songs. Scorpion actuality has bad tracks
this take is always so stupid
it’s basically just another way to say “i only actually liked 7 of the songs” without sounding like you hate the album as much as you clearly do
be more confident in your opinions. say it with your chest. “there are only 7 good songs on the album”
I'll confidently say that you're a little b**** for having this much of an issue with my statement.
my theory is that after yeezus kanye gradually lost the ability to really effectively edit the fat off albums. he took it to an extreme with the wyoming albums and while most of them ended up being good to great, there was definitely a slightly arbitrary feeling to the editing on others.
donda feels like him going the other way and stuffing as much stuff as possible on for fear of no longer having the ear to know what the best stuff is.
man i could care less i just had to go through 5 years of 20 minute albums. let the man throw it all on if he wanna
Right??
This gon keep our bellies full for a hot minute

Donda (23-song album better than any of the Wyoming albums) out now
Long ass double albums can work if the artists making them are capable of making music that is good enough to justify them being so long.
Y'all just gotta be honest here and ask yourselves if Drake or post-2013 Kanye are good enough to justify long ass albums at this point in their careers.
Donda out now
