What's the acceptable distance for holding the door for another person? I've had a couple situations where I felt like it would be weird for me to hold the door for the other person so I didn't then when they walked by me they looked kinda mad (could've not been because of me, but it's been a couple times so I feel like it probably wasn't a coincidence). Like how many feet away from you do they need to be to not hold the door for them? Like if someone isn't right behind me I'll usually not hold the door for them.

Also do you say thank you every time? Once someone held the door for me and I didn't thank them in a noticeable enough way I guess (I like nodded at them but maybe they didn't see it I guess) and they gave me a super dirty look after that and I felt really bad but I wasn't gonna argue with them and tell them I nodded I still kinda feel bad

Doing it for men is kind of sus, especially if you make them run for it. I’ll hold the door with my hand for a quick second if there’s zero distance, ain’t no way I’m stopping and waiting like some hotel bag boy.

I don’t hold the door open for girls to walk past me. A lot of girls don’t really like the door being held for them because dudes will just stare are their ass as they walk past or will just creep up behind them as they go inside said business.

The most I’ll do is hold it open for them to catch it a half a second later after
I let it go.
