2008 Ford Focus thatās under 100k miles
Thereās also a 2005 Honda Accord in the 130k range but itās gonna be $1500 more
Both are solid options. Get a mechanic to look at either or. Honda with 130k miles donāt mean s*** since them things last forever. Iām leaning more towards that 08 focus though. Is 140 a month going to hurt your current situation though? Thatās the real question

Get rid of that Focus, they had a class action lawsuit against them for slipping transmissions.
I used to sell cars and mechanics, and I know how bad some of them s***s were.
Go buy the Accord, youll think me later.
no cap, that friend trying to sell you off of the dealership has your best interest in mind
donāt spend money you donāt have g

Accord > Corolla

Get the Honda. The Honda will last longer for your buck.
The Ford Focus that year wasn't good and will cause you more problems than anything down the road.
Invest in the long term, not the short term.

There not in the same class though, a corolla is a compact car and the accord is a mid-size car!

An accord with only 130k will last another 100k+ miles if maintained well, I've seen some with like 300k. The focus wont make it past 175k
F***ed my car up in some snow, already needed cosmetic work worth 500 but now itās gonna need repairs thatāll most likely exceed 600
Tried to look into a something newer but my credit is s***. Found a nice car from a dealer thatās willing to work with me but their s*** sells like hotcakes. They want 1000 down, I got 300 left in my bank account and I donāt get paid for another 2 weeks
Would try to hustle and make the money on doordash and instacart and maybe borrow from my parents but the only other vehicle we have is my dads truck and his catalytic converter is f***ed. He wonāt repair it and heāll justify his trips but he wonāt let me use it for orders
So uhhh what do I here?
Edit: so basically Iāve been talking to a local dealership in town thatās willing to work with me for a good car. Itās 3500 and they only want a $1000 down payment with 140 a month payments. They can also include warranty for an extra 1000. Iām pretty much ready to hop on this deal, but I have a friend thatās highly advising against it.
My friend is well aware of my financial struggles, and even with all the details I gave him of how this is a good deal he wonāt listen to me and just keeps pointing out the bad in dealerships (payments per month when Iām alrrady low on money, distrust that the dealership really gives all the details of the car, etc). So heās willing to lend me 2000 out of his own pocket to get a simple craigslist car so that I donāt have to deal with dealership bs.
Canāt really decide whatās the right choice from here. I was already pretty hesitant since this would be the first car I financed, but I donāt want to borrow that much money from him even if he insists.
Listen to ya man
damn your friend about to lend you 2k and i canāt even get mine to text me back
