Marinelli is a legend he worked with MJ iirc
Yes and he alao makes a lot ot cool videos breaking down how MJ records were made
It makes sense
The Chronic's G-Funk's relation to P-Funk always made it make sense that it would be a minimoog
I'd be shocked to see Dre's old studio and see no Minimoog
Even when I got my first real Moog G-Thang & Da Funk were the first riffs I played on it
Now im thinking how many other keyboards-guitars-basses sounds are pump faked which were hit singles but the producer or artist received a lucrative endorsement deal & it was too late to say anything.
We have to be talking hundreds & hundreds per decade. Starting in the 1950's to present.
gotta buy the synth now before a****** scalpers make it skyrocket
Dog I remember a Juno was only like $200 in 2010-11 before M83/Drive Ost/Synth pop revival
I still kick myself for not seizing that moment
gotta buy the synth now before a****** scalpers make it skyrocket
my friend sent me a used listing 2 years ago
It was someone from the Paul Institute (potentially A.K. Paul) selling a similar model to one of these on Gumtree London
(I think it was either this or an SY85)
I just had another thought
You could literally start a YouTube-twitter-ig-fb- all platforms debate arguing if you left this open ended.
Sort of like a sparring match by not confirming anything. Which in turn means more traffic and attention to your product, service, artist, whatever. And it could be to BOTH SIDES benefit, whatever "toothpaste" they choose.
And now im starting to get a clearer picture on how much density of information is being held back to all of us.
Am i the only one who still thinks it doesn’t sound anything like the original.
I've seen interviews where Dre is next to a mini Moog where they are talking about g thang.
Dre wanted to protect his sounds, well played.
p**** move tbh. real artists share to uplift their fellow artists

its unmixed, played slightly differently microtimings etc

He did a quick pass, he’s a sound designer. He’s showing you how quickly people could bypassed a***og sounds. I’d like to know of all the songs, why was the mini moog declined on this one? This seems like it would be the toughest
Because it’s the high pitch whistle trill . It’s like substituting a pedal steel guitar in country song! Most people at the studio are going to be forced to get the pedal steel player for the session. The label will INSIST, you can’t break the Nashville mafia
It does say something about how everything else mainly was moog electric bass & guitar on The Chronic. This kind of follows the ethos of Ruthless. rap a lot, suave house, No limit
I believe a lot of these labels saved millions & court headaches by interpolating the original sample played by session musicians
And if they had to have the sample, they had the money budgeted by not running to the sampler machine.
