Progression, he’s been apart of many deadly beefs and mob wars between his set (Reps Up) and rival gangs in the city so it’s only natural for him to be more paranoid and violent
What’s your fav Drake album/project?
Hmmm man this is a hard one. Imma just rank them on how much i listened to them.
1. if your reading this
2. more life
3. nwts
4/5. take care/views
6. scorpion
7. dldt(obviously lol)
Dldt hasnt been out long enough but i really liked it tbh it could go up a few spots.
Interesting. What’s your favorite Drake project?
Mine’s NWTS but I see that much closer to SFG and Take Care than Views/modern stuff
NWTS my favorite
But i like this new music so much too
You dont think dldt is different from his last albums?
It's not that different
It's typical Drake music
I think y'all expect too much of mans idk
not as strict as progression/regression
marvin's room is still the most important thing he's dropped

When did he make songs like desires or war? Nothing he made sounds like them

Desires is textbook drake
War - you got a point
he definitely raps better than he used to
See I can’t agree with this tbh. Old Drake rapped so much better imo. His flows weren’t as simple and repetitive.

i mean idk about the music in itself but his vocals progressed like crazy
hearing him rap in 2010-13 shows me how trash his voice was

Drake really been through some s***
I don't understand this "Drake is a Mob Boss" critque. Seems lazy.
I always thought it was a meme on here.
Maybe I can remember but all I heard that was mob related was: Mob Ties and Omerta. And he threw himself a GoodFellas themed party.
This is the thing that is so offensive to you.
In the light of a recent thread being locked, let’s have this conversation. Please don’t move to Drake sxn cuz I want the opinions of all rap fans not just Drake fans.
Niggas was arguing that Drake being a mob boss now is totally natural and could have been predicted since the earliest days of his career because of some lyrical sprinkles referencing his mob ties in Take Care.
Niggas laughing at me for saying that Drake’s changed so much by ironically replying “yeah I expect Drake to never change his personality at all in the span of 10 years”.
No. I would just like to know how someone like Jay Z who grew up in Marcy surrounded by crime is able to progressively decrease the relation to d**** violence and crime in his lyrics as he grows older. That, to me, is a sign of growth. But on the other hand, Drake, who grew up in Toronto surrounded by picket fences is able to progressively INCREASE the relation to violence and crime in his music, and his fans see THIS as growth.
Is Drake growing? Or is he regressing to something he was trying to be before he found his unique style that made him so different from everyone else?
Discuss.
What you're talking about is not a matter of growth. You are right Drake came from a different setting than Jay yet has the same spotlight if not bigger. Jay was established in the streets and respected amongst his peers, Drake was definetly not. He speaks about that dynamic pretty often in his music. We've seen how easy it is for celebrities to be caught lacking. We don't know Drake personally either, the reality is the streets can be looked at as an opportunity to diversify if ya know what I mean

By diversify do you mean go from a goodie two shoes rapper to more publicly embracing gang culture?

No one’s offended.
As someone who’s loved Drake since 2012 I can definitely say I’m disappointed though.

The only serious thing he’s ever said about the mob was that he has ties... which isn’t very far fetched.

Not at all, I'm talking income/taking care of people that take care of him.
I couldn't reply to u in tht last thread but we all know Drake never came from the streets and he's always just claimed to have ties/relations to people in the streets
With that being said he didn't have any beef until he started rapping, no one tried Drake till he started rapping and he had no reason to defend himself till recent years and now he has the money and the power to call shots and that's what he raps about
I dont think anyone outside of ktt trolls takes Drake to be a literal mob boss
