Imo HNVM came off little rushed, even I agree with the reviewers on Dead End Hip Hop where they theorized about Drake knowing that Beyoncé was working on a dance record. Therefore he quickly put together something, but the quality of work suffered as a result.

I agreed with Myke C Town about how Drake could’ve put out a full on R&B album instead and that makes this entire thing frustrating as a whole.

This guy went from "the album is unmixed" to "nobody plays this at clubs"

He's always trying to find excuses

    I mean it’s both

They about to go at your neck for this honest take lmaoo

  • My favorite part about this discourse is how all the people who are complaining about Drake phoning it in for YEARS now are still the first ones to check out any new Drake music that drops. What does that say about you?

Imagine being so stupid as to think Drake not spending time promoting every single project he drops = him not being passionate about music anymore. Someone who isn't passionate about music and has accomplished a quarter of what Drake has wouldn't be bothering to get in the studio in the first place. Drake has just gotten to a place where giving people full-length efforts is enough. He's leaving it in the hands of fans to support those projects as they see fit while he moves on to something else and for someone as accomplished as he is, that's the best way to go about things.

Historically, the only projects Drake has spent an extended amount of time promoting are projects he was releasing singles from months before the actual projects were released.

Everytime he has dropped a full-length project without really pushing singles beforehand (IYRTITL/WATTBA/More Life/DLDT/CLB/HN/Her Loss) he hasn't spent much time on pushing singles/doing promo.

It has nothing to do with him not having passion for the music or not caring about the music. That's just how he moves and he's done it enough times for those with sense to understand. Some of you just have stupid takes.

We live in a world where Drake gets docked for not doing interviews and talking about his process but it bolsters Kendrick and Frank Ocean

Let the man live a little huh

So u just gonna act like u don't remember all them "mysterious" jokes niggas make about the both of them lmao

Working on a project till the last minute doesn't mean it's rushed. Drake started working on Views in 2014, dropped 2 projects in 2015 and was still working on Views hours before it was set to drop in 2016.

Drake started working on CLB in late 2019, dropped DLDT in 2020 and was still working on CLB hours before it was set to drop in 2021.

That's just how Drake works. This is the same dude who was working on TML/TC/NWTS hours before they were set to be turned in for mastering and to have physical versions of them made. If he didn't have to do physicals for those albums, he'd probably have worked on them till the last minute as well.

It doesn't mean they're rushed. It just means Drake isn't the kind of artist to make an album and have it turned in months before it's release date. That's simply isn't how he operates. Any true fan would get this by now.

Well I think that people mostly accept that that's who they are....introverted and private.
Drake is (or at least presents himself) as an extrovert and pretty outspoken. Plus they (mostly Kendrick) actually will say something eventually. In this interview he explains his intentions with Morale.

My point is everybody should be able to do what they want and no one person should have to explain everything for fans to take them seriously

This theory is so stupid to me because why would the arguable biggest artist on the planet at the moment scramble to put together a copycat project ripping off an artist who hasn’t dropped in 6 years? Beyonce and Drake aren’t even competitors like that

It’s also ignoring the numerous dance songs Drake has dropped throughout his career, AND it’s ignoring the fact that Honestly, Nevermind & Renaissance are two completely different styles of house music

I agree, it just seems they used coincidence of albums coming out around the same time to make it.
