Nov 10, 2022iHypePart of me does think Drake does the absolute bare minimum these days and he should do more but in this instance also an artist shouldn’t feel the need to be desperate and go all out just because another does lol.
He absolutely should do stuff like release CDs, vinyls, etc. He don’t even want to give fans basic s***? Also doesn’t do much visuals anymore, the merch drops are lazy, etc. The “auto pilot success” with his music really did ruin his drive in terms of effort outside the studio.
In this instance though it’s just someone doing absolutely anything to go #1 and at that point it’s not even worth the sweat.
The album is going #1 with huge numbers and he already has a bunch of chart hits + this album will spam the entire chart this week anyways.
Man imagine next go round Drake goes all out with the release and promo just to show mfs “ok this what a real star looks like since y’all wanna play games with me and my genre”. I know he won’t at this point in his career but boy would it be fun

Billboard never make changes till they get embarrassed publicly and people start mocking their charts.
When Kenny Chesney debuted at #1 over Drake back in 2020 with bundles for a cancelled tour while Drake's album was streaming over 100 times more, it made news. The New York Times and the Washington Post were just two of the publications who wrote about it. Not to mention stan Twitter telling them repeatedly that their charts were now a joke. Soon after, they cancelled bundles.
