    Deezed

historically been a 70/30 splits past couple albums

and first day for her loss was 150+ million Us streams with 50 mill coming from spotify (67/33 split there) so its still in line with same 70/30 ratio

that means if its 190 mill US streams on spotify we looking at 550+ million streams overall

    So we looking at

    380,000(67/33 split)-422,000(70/30 split) first week.

the fact streaming don’t have the most weight in 2022 in terms of the “hottest” songs in the country doesn’t sit right with me smh

The fact that remixes count towards original does not sit right with me. That’s literally a different song 😭

One of the biggest copes ever is believing Drake doesn’t drop physicals and remixes because of “artistic integrity”. He doesn’t drop them because nobody is going to buy them like that and both he and the label know that.

If he could sell a million copies like Taylor, he would. Ain’t no way he’s throwing away a bag because of some imaginary chart ethics Drake stans made up.

    Are you dumb lmao
Drake literally sold 800k physicals with views

On Apple Music alone and it’s still one of the biggest streaming debut weeks ever.

You said that he old sold 800k plus because streaming wasn’t big yet. But the fact that he sold nearly 200k units on just Apple Music proves that’s not true.

Not sure if you’re being fr or not but just in case:

It’s a completely objective statement to say that streaming was in its infancy in 2016 and nowhere even close to where it is now.

That ain’t what you said. You said it wasn’t big. Which is false

Even saying “it wasn’t AS big” wouldn’t help your case much since, as we already told you, the numbers it put up on Apple Music STILL dwarfs all but a handful of albums.
This wasn’t 2014 or 2015. We’re talking about an album released during the streaming era.

We’re talking about Views, a 20 song Drake album, arguably at the peak of his popularity, coming off massive hits Hotline Bling and One Dance.

Once the Apple Music exclusivity expired week 3 and the album was released on Spotify and other platforms, week to week streams barely increased at the time. Drake (or any other artist) absolutely could not have sold anywhere over 400k without physicals at the time and even that number is likely pushing it given the streaming sales of other large artists of the time who didn’t drop exclusively on one platform.

Without physicals in 2016, Views would be nowhere near the biggest selling albums of the year. That’s just facts. That is no longer true in 2022.

Subtract those over 800k first week physical sales and there are many albums with higher first weeks (with physicals) topping it first week

Obviously if you take physicals way from just Drake that happens. I don't get your point

But Drake isn’t doing physicals NOW and other artists still are and he’s not getting outsold. Something he couldn’t do in 2016 or before. That’s my point. He’s not dropping physicals now because they wouldn’t raise his numbers much higher than they are now, while exposing him to leaks. Not because he has some kind of “artistic integrity” all of a sudden.

He doesn't do physicals because it would result in him having to turn in his album really early. They have to have the vinyls pressed and ready to ship week 1 for it to count towards his first week sales. Turning in your album results in alot of the times your album leaking early which hurts your sales even more. That's why he doesn't bother doing Physicals.

Exactly and the risk of a leak decreasing his first week streams isn’t worth any small boost having physicals ready will give him. It’s just a simple business decision but the d***riders here will have you believe that he’s doing it from some kind of greater ethical purpose.
