Kanye had no pull in the clothing/shoe industry when he was with nike
Drake signed with nike after already having built a sustainable brand in OVO. They had no choice but to give him creative control

Many things have changed between when Kanye was asking for his deal and when Drake asked for his. Drake built a strong relationship with Nike over the years. First through his deal with the Jordan Brand and then through him building up a viable lifestyle/clothing brand with OVO. All those were things he likely used to leverage and make negotiations for his deal with Nike.

NOCTA is Drake's own brand which he owns entirely, but the brand creates apparel, footwear and other accessories in collaboration/association with Nike. I'm not sure of the exact details of the deal but usually, it'll mean Drake gets a percentage of the profits and also basically leases out the NOCTA brand to Nike for a fee.

It's the same way Rihanna owns the Fenty brand and worked with Puma on those sneakers for a while and then stopped and set up other subsidiaries with other brands also under the Fenty brand umbrella. Same way Kanye owns the Yeezy brand and even though he works with primarily with Adidas, he can branch out and work with GAP as well.

First drop will probably be a big one. There's a reason they've delayed the release for this long. I don't think it'll be a limited release.

The way the sneaker game is just off perception you’re don’t want pairs just sitting. Might not be super super limited but will be the raffle type releases not the general release type joints (same as Jordan’s, Dunks, Yeezys, etc etc)

Oh yeah, of course. But they'll want enough pairs out there with more planned to be released later.

I think they got the Nocta releases pretty spot on every drop. Sells out almost instantly on every site and with Restocks every so often so people can cop.

Some pieces slightly over priced but if people want them over time they can go back and get them.

Yeah, but also people might want to cop sneakers more than apparel so they'll have to make more sneakers available either on the day of the first drop or over time. Copping sneakers will also be a lot cheaper than copping apparel. If NOCTA sneakers go for $150-$250, that's cheaper for many people who would spend 2, 3 times that amount copping apparel and if people love the sneakers, the demand for more will be high.

Just hope they make enough so a decent amount of people can cop. I’m not sure their goal is with the sneaker side of it tbh, are they hoping to create a demand for it through less supply or do they want to give access to a sizable amount of people.

I guess we'll just have to wait and see what they end up doing.
