Why they selling these for Pennie’s on the dollar
I imagine cause streaming f***ed the value of catalogs in the long term so everyone is tryna cash in now.
Industry is shifting and if you're someone like this or in the case of a Springsteen have an aging fanbase this might be your last chance to make real cash off your work.

I used to think “oh, it’s because they don’t value their art in the long term”
but now that everybody’s doing it/done it, I’m starting to wonder if there isn’t jusy a general understanding amongst society’s celeb+artist sets these days along the lines of “there’s not gonna be much of a world left by the time I’ve burnt through the spending money off this sale, so why the f*** would I hold on to the publishing?”

Akademiks said these companies that are buying most catalogs are overpaying artist/songwriters/producers by 25% of the value
sounds like a win to me
