Songs like Passionfruit are so much stronger than this. At first I was hoping it was going to be Race My Mind style songwriting over house beats
I agree I like the sound for Drake, but maybe it’s because it was too many songs biting off it that made it sound not so special, idk. I do agree there doesn’t seem to be a passion fruit or one dance level hit potential with this one, but he’s got loads of hits anyway

In the lead up to this album people were practically begging for Drake to “save the summer.” And like, why should he be the one to do that? We always talk about wanting the mythical “10 song lyrical rap album” from him but he probably couldn’t do that if he wanted to because he just HAS to be the soundtrack to everyone’s summer.

yeah I don't really care about hits or not. Race My Mind and Feel No Ways aren't hits
But they're the type of songwriting that would have worked really well for this style and seem to be lacking
The ideas he's bringing writing wise just sound a bit bland even though the sound is cool
