As people have been saying, this album is something he’s definitely wanted to do since VIEWS but didn’t have the courage to potentially put his spot at the top at risk.

But when Virgil passed, it deeply impacted Drake and he realized that time is precious and if he ever wants to make this album, he needs to do it now. That urgency combined with the passion made for this album being made very quickly.
