I want to rave at a warehouse in Miami to this album
Im booking a flight to Greece in a few weeks when I will have my summer vacation and Im going crazy
The intro is such a key piece of this album
It starts off like a typical Drake song (slow, brooding), then Falling Back immediately does a 180 and slaps you in the face
I remember Drake did some interview in 2011 I think with Tim Westwood where he said he wouldn’t make house music because that was the current trend and he rather make dancehall i’m glad he changed his mind on it.
This album would be better if Drake could actually sing
Autotune
It’s about the vibes who cares, he sounds great lmao
@TroyAveStan Need a report straight from the trenches. Streets f***ing with this?
Drake fans finally got an album above 3/10 and they're losing their minds
You're an enemy of music if you actually believe what you just said.

He doesnt sound great which is what im saying
One thing that gets ignored often in this house origins convo is that a bunch of the disco producers and songwriters were European guys, like Giorgio Moroder working with Donna Summers. The Europeans definitely elevated electronic music (I mean it started there) and this help create disco, which existed in Europe at the same time as it existed in the USA. European and American disco had some sonic differences though, with Europeans preferring lush strings and harmonies and Americans putting more emphasis on rhythms.
The black americans gave it the unique twist of soul singing and rich instrumentation which brought disco to a different level, but even late disco began to blur into electronic music.
Post-disco music (extremely underrated genre that a lot of people don't seem to know about) like early Luther Vandross (Changes), BB&Q Band, SOS Band usually had Italian producers and songwriters. There was a bunch of back and forth between Europe and (black) America in creating this stuff.
Post-disco and house had a lot of overlap. House and techno spread to Europe pretty quickly and the scenes influenced each other. After the mid 90s or so house's popularity in the USA declined and a lot of the house artists actually found more success in Europe. For example Romanthony (vocal house) or Todd Edwards (garage house).
House became the dominant sound of the late 90s in Europe up and stayed a staple until today.
The American mainstream didn't vibe with house anymore and their primary electronic revivals consisted of EDM/electronic trap and brostep (think early 2010s rave music) as well as an ongoing synthpop revival since the late 2000s. The USA never really had a full on house revival but their scene is prolific since the 2010s because of the internet's ability to keep genres alive even without radioplay or club rotations
I think another issue I have with this album, well not the album Drake himself…. Ok sure he’s finally doing something new, but not really. Like the subject matter on the album is the same as all other albums he’s ever made. Before y’all Drake Stan’s start saying “omg what you want socially conscious dance music???” That’s not specifically what I’m looking for from Drake, but if he was to get into that bag I’m sure he’d do great, he’s too talented not too.
Like the only “progressive” change in this album from Drake’s usual sound is the production. Everything else is the same. So he ain’t really pushing boundaries imo. I will give him credit for being the biggest artist in the world and shining a light on house music though. I’ve seen multiple people on my timeline say they didn’t know they liked house music, and are looking up other artist in the space.

at night, if you go to bairro alto just leave before 3am and you're chill
I just can’t get over y’all making fun of us for saying these albums weren’t for mainstream audiences and passion projects for the artist just for Drake to say the exact same s*** 😭😭😭
