Yeah I was and still am in the camp of CLB doing nothing for me so this album was a great surprise to me.

Besides NAV, nobody on XO is really popping off either. But the same narrative isn’t really being made for them.

While it’s a popular meme, it’s pretty clear from all the OVO artists that there is complete creative freedom when it comes to what music they want to put out and how they do it.

Like you say, the OVO artists have complete creative freedom and probably get reasonabble budgets for their albums.

Also Drake gives songs to them often times (My Love, Stars Align, probably Friends from Dvsn and more we do not know about).

I get why everyone’s so taken by Jimmy Cooks as the last song.. but I’m not sure how anyone thinks Drake feels he needs to do anything.. the choice is intentional.. how is it fundamentally any different then ending Yeezus with Bound 2

trust me ive been saying for years, been a drake fan since 2010, when take drops absolute hate for a week or 2 now its a classic, NWTS same thing, IYRTITL same thing, Yeezus same thing, trust me its dumb as s*** and hypocritical

This album may be ‘dance’ or ‘house’ but from Drake’s singing, lyrics, content, delivery, it’s all very much R&B Drake.

Texts go Green is an R&B record just sped up a bit to me and that’s the case with quite a few of these jams.

Personally this album from the first listen was really good and if you enjoy singing Drake then I think there’s stuff on here that you’ll enjoy. The content is very much akin to Certified lover boy.

currents overhated. the bed squeak wasn't the best choice sonically but it by no means ruins the track
