Can you explain in detail what you mean? I’m fascinated by things that audiophiles pick up.
Maybe it’s cause I mostly listen with air pods unless I’m outside.
The vocals almost sound suppressed, like if you compare future and drake on wait for u, future is super clear and he’s sitting on top of the beat, drakes vocals sound like they have some distortion and reverb and they somehow feel a lot wider and less sharp. This makes him sit with the beat more than sit on top of the beat. Compare the vocals on wait for u to any song on clb as well and you’ll see what I mean.
Another example of what I’m tryna explain is on 3.15.20 by gambino, I described it to my friend as the vocals don’t sit on top of the beat at all, they almost have a drum forward mix where instead of it feeling layered it all comes from the same place or the drums punch through the entire beat and pop out, a lot of lofi rap is mixed like that with the vocals in the back with the beat and the drums drowning everything out in a sense
He dislikes drake on a personal level lmao
Fr he cant stand the fact people love drake so much
Mixing is great lol. They obviously werent intending to mix his vocals like nwts since it doesnt fit with this type of music. Its mixed perfectly for the melodic vocals hes doing
It’s definitely what they intended but I can’t get behind it necessarily, it’s distracting me on some tracks
Like I get why on this project they probably did it as to not emphasize the vocals too much cause the beats are a big focus as well, or to make the vocals more of an element vs the main component
Mixing cant be explained through text lol you have to listen to it
It can it just takes paragraphs
Jimmy Cooks works for me at the end of the album
I look at Liability like last call at the bar and then JC as the Uber ride back with the bros
Really reminds me of 808s&heartbreaks during some parts
mr hudson said that too lmao
Sounds great, thank you. I wonder why he switched up the pitch.
he likes the slowed reverb sound he posts it on his ig story plenty of times
His vocals used it be very clean and in the forefront, now its more autotuny from what I notice
I think he’s using a form of distortion similar to what Kanye did on donda like on hurricane, but less obvious, and then I think it’s extra reverb and they might crank the mids up or down I can’t remember which is which, the result is it’s wider and not as sharp sounding. More like an instrument in the piano guitar range than a voice I guess?
Could just be that he recorded some at Donda 2 and the hotel acoustics was not cutting it
Those dorks are white kendrick stans who think they know hip hip lol
im a white kendrick fan
i see tho
stan wars

facts
movies over heres the credits
I pitched corrected and sped up Liability. Honestly sounds better than the album version imo lol
https://soundcloud.com/valleyblues/drake-liability-pitched-correctedI’ll never understand how when you pitch down or up a song it always sounds like it’s coming through a filter
And it’s not you I did this with some party and Kanye songs

Yeah I used ableton for this. It sucks but kinda works for this since the original sounds f***ed up anyway (in a good way) lol

I saw people comparing it to bound but bound was kind of a bookend to what he was talking about. This one feels more random. I’m sure they had a reason though

Yeah I always use ableton too
I think it probably got f***ed up when he pitched it down first
?
it's a weird question imo
if A$AP Yams was alive would Testing sound like this?
you know? there's no point.

Maybe, I just feel like it was heavily inspired by him, and the most similar song to this was produced by him
In regards to the second part, I feel like Virgil and him probably talked about this at some point whereas with testing that was Rockys like first venture on his own
